A WORD FROM THE NDW NATIONAL CHAIRPERSON

Dear Dancers, Teachers, Parents, and Dance Enthusiasts:

     For the past four years, I have served as the National Chairperson for NATIONAL DANCE WEEK which will next be held April 20 through April 29, 2007. I consider this an honor since I have been a supporter of and served on the steering committee of National Dance Week since its inception.
I would like to invite you to join me in supporting National Dance Week on the local as well as the national level. Last year we had 180 delegates in 44 of the 50 states. This year we aspire to have representatives in all 50 states. Every year, there are more than 5000 events held throughout the United States in honor of NDW and it is my personal wish to see that number at least doubled as we continue to grow. One of our goals is to have National Dance Week given the prestige of a Congressional Proclamation and for even more recognition a Presidential Proclamation. You can join us in the quest for this honorarium by checking out the sample letters of petition listed elsewhere on this website. Such proclamations would give credit to the countless thousands of dance educators that nurture, educate and love the youth of today as well as to the entire American dance community.
     We want and treasure your participation in local events but we also desperately need financial support on the national level. What will supporting National Dance Week do for you? Your donations will provide you with a website containing information of events, programs and services provided by NDW, the maintenance of a Delegates' corps to work toward raising public awareness of NDW, development of alternate partnerships and affiliations for Dance and NDW in our society and a continuing reminder to the country on the importance of dance in all its forms for our culture. Whether it is through education, performance, therapeutic, liturgical, ethnic or the various other fields and forms of dance, our art form offers humankind a unique and valued expression of the human being, spirit and state. With your help, we CAN make a difference.
