Chicago’s Trinity Irish Dance Company was the birthplace of progressive Irish dance in America. Trinity dancers range in age from 18 to 28, and their years of rigorous training are evident in every perfectly paced spin, leap, and click, making them a lethal powerhouse of speed and sound. The company dazzles audiences with the hard-driving percussive power, lightning-fast agility, aerial grace, and awe-inspiring precision of its dancers. It is a dance legacy that is rooted in tradition, yet forward-looking. OHIO

State Director, Margaret Holden, will be presenting the NDW® 2007 in Northeast Ohio's Outstanding Contributions to Art of Dance Award to Michael Medcalf, Founder of Cleveland Contemporary Dance Theatre.   This presentation will be the first annual regional recognition to honor someone from the area who has left to follow a professional career and then returned to the Home Town to foster the growth of the Art of Dance. Mr. Medcalf was the founder of the highly polished and racially diverse company which brings genuine acknowledgment and recognition to the region.  He has been the artistic director since its initial formation and will be retiring from the post at the end of June, 2007. He has served as dancer, choreographer, collaborator with other companies throughout the United States and has also had a strong commitment to the youth of NE Ohio.  He will be featured in one of the upcoming issues of a national magazine for his contributions to the art of dance. The presentation will be made at the West Lake NDW Day of Dance as listed below. A Lifetime Achievement Award for NDW in Northeast Ohio will also be presented to Virginia Stevens, who has taught dance in the NE Ohio area for over 50 years. This dance educator has inspired many lives with her careful instruction, and has seen many of her students go on to professional careers.  A third award will be presented to the Northeast Ohio NDW Teacher of the Year, Inna Stabrova, a former principle dancer with the Lenigrad Ballet Theatre. Ms Stabrova is a graduate of the Vaganova School of Choreography and also holds a Masters Degree from the Odessa Choreographic Institute.West Lake NDW Day of Dance as listed below.
