Groove
Groove With Me is a free dance school for girls in East Harlem.  The mission is to build self confidence in an effort to prevent risk taking behaviors. The Program Director is a social worker and the teachers are trained in youth development.

Groove With Me enrolls 280 children. It offers 39 weekly classes taught by 35 volunteer teachers who together contribute more than 2000 hours every year.  Classes are offered in hip hop, tap, ballet, theater, Nia, Jazz, Afro-Caribbean, belly-dancing, modern, and movement.

Over the last 17 years it has touched thousands of lives.  Many girls have been here for over 10 years since we opened a studio in East Harlem in 2001. We watch their confidence grow. They need this refuge.  Their stresses range from homework to bullying and crime.  Groove With Me may be the cornerstone in their development, the difference between defeat or hope.
